Description and usage notes:

Ebanol has a musky character in addition to the sandalwood and is perhaps four times stronger than natural sandalwood oil. It should be stored cool in well-sealed containers for no more than 18 months or diluted promptly in ethanol as it can develop off-odours otherwise.

Description from Givaudan: “Ebanol has a very rich, natural sandalwood odour. It is powerful and intense, bringing volume and elegance to woody accords and a diffusive sandalwood effect to compositions. Ebanol is highly substantive on all supports.”

Arcadi Boix Camps writes in 1999 and again in 2009 about Ebanol describing it as “rich, powerful… with musky nuances … it has been used in many fragrances … Dolce Vita, XS for ladies, Elysium (about 2%), Escape for Men, Red Jeans and Egoiste, I believe it is a good chemical but Sandalwood Oil is so complex that no chemical imparts its class and all its nuances.  The best is to blend them and to use them together.”
