Description and usage notes:

One of the extremely powerful ingredients, best thought of in the same way as the pyrazines.

A very interesting material that, when sufficiently diluted gives an extremely realistic note of tomatoes – with the addition of other components it can easily be pushed in the direction of ripe tomato fruits or that characteristic smell of the tomato plant itself.

It also offers lift and diffusion to a blend if dosed correctly and can be effectively used at extremely low levels in neroli, orange flower and petitgrain accords; oriental and chypre fragrances.

Also try this material in a 1:100 proportion with Melonal (so 1 part of this dilution of isobutylthiazole to 1 part of a 10% solution of Melonal) to get a very good illusion of the smell of ripe Cantaloupe melons.  For even more veracity, add a little cis-6-nonenol as well.

There is no IFRA restriction in the use of this product but in practice only very low doses can be used because it is so powerful. The material is suitable for use in air care applications such as candles, joss sticks and reed diffusers.

In concentration it’s quite unpleasant smelling and impractical to use, so we’re offering it here as a 0.1% solution, which is a practical strength, though if you typically blend in small quantities you may find you need to dilute it even further to avoid overdose.  The starting material was at least 99% pure and has been diluted to 0.1% in DPG by Pell Wall.
