Description and usage notes:

A classical sandalwood note that can be used in all fragrance types, very useful in combination with some of the more expensive sandalwood replacers. This is one of the oldest synthetic sandalwood materials and most offerings sold under this name consist of a mixture of related isomers. The odour impact is low but persistence extremely high: it isn’t recommended as a sandalwood replacer but is effective in combination with the more powerful synthetics and with the natural essential oil.

Arctander says that “this material, rarely offered under its chemical name, is used in perfume compositions for its Sandalwood character and economical stability.” and goes on to suggest it may usefully constitute a 50% replacement for the natural oil.

According to Arcadi Boix Camps, this product has an odour and fixative capability “related to alpha-Santalol and develops slowly upon evaporation”

Personally, I find Sandela molecule more similar to the real Sandalwood. It seems that it did not smell but after hours the smell of it still stands. Economic, powerful, and very used.
