These are Pasteur type pipettes, without a cotton plug. Pipettes of this type with a cotton plug are a good deal more expensive but the risk of contaminating one perfume material with another via the teat when using the unplugged type is high, so we recommend the plugged type: the choice is yours however.
The end of the pipette is very fine enabling very small drops of material to be added to your blend for accurate weighing out of materials – the plastic disposable pipettes are useful for moving larger amounts of material but produce much larger drops, so offer less accuracy.
These pipettes are inherently fragile, which is why we only sell them in full boxes. The Box of 60 is one of our nice black boxes with the logo on it, the box of 250 is as supplied by the manufacturer.
Although they can be re-used if carefully washed in alcohol we recommend using them just once. The glass can be recycled.
Teats for use with these pipettes can be found here We find the 2ml teat is the most useful so one of these is provided with every box of pipettes purchased.
Because the business end is so fine it’s also very sharp: take special care when attaching and removing the teat to avoid injury.
