These are Pasteur type pipettes, with a cotton plug to prevent the material being sucked in from contaminating the teat. Pipettes of this type without the plug are a good deal cheaper but the risk of contaminating one perfume material with another via the teat when using them is high, so we recommend the plugged type.
The end of the pipette is very fine enabling very small drops of material to be added to your blend for accurate weighing out of materials – the plastic disposable pipettes are useful for moving larger amounts of material but produce much larger drops, so offer less accuracy.
These pipettes are inherently fragile, which is why we only sell them in full boxes. The Boxes of 45 and 60 come in one of our nice black boxes with the logo on it, the box of 250 is as supplied by the manufacturer. Pipettes in the box of 45 are 230mm long, those in the other two quantities are 150mm long.
Although they can be re-used if carefully washed in alcohol we recommend using them just once. The glass can be recycled.
Teats for use with these pipettes can be found here We find the 2ml teat is the most useful so one of these is provided with every box of pipettes purchased.
Because the business end is so fine it’s also very sharp: take special care when attaching and removing the teat to avoid injury.
