What are cocktail glasses doing on a perfumery website? You might reasonably ask … the answer is that the Pell Wall Perfumer is also a keen amateur mixologist (as witness the cocktail entries on the Pell Wall blog) and he spent a long time looking for quality martini glasses that were tough enough to be safe to use in environments where there may be hard floors, people in bare feet, children or pets around or anything that can easily be damaged by sharp shards of glass.
It turns out it’s really difficult to buy martini glasses made from fully tempered glass – unless you buy them wholesale – in quantities appropriate to running a bar. So, since these were hard to find and the minimum order was 24, here they are for sale individually.
They are the perfect size for a dry martini, will survive being taken hot from the dishwasher and filled with ice to chill them and are five times stronger than conventional glasses. Best of all you don’t get deadly shards if you do break one, just blunt pieces. Ideal for that poolside cocktail but also perfect if you worry about children or pets or yourself getting injured after a breakage.
