This accord by Pell Wall is designed to enable you to add an attractive fresh raspberry note to any fragrance. The accord gives a good, rounded effect including the sharpness experienced with the fresh fruit. The accord is relatively simple, comprising of just 10 ingredients, but not as minimalist as that presented below. Please note that, despite smelling quite edible, this accord is only suitable for use in fragrance creation and may not be used as a flavouring.
As with all the Pell Wall bases and blends, these are designed to make fragrance composition a little easier. If you buy a total of 2Kg of any one blend or base, or for a fee otherwise, the exact formula for it can be made available to you on a confidential basis – this is to ensure that anyone graduating from hobby work to producing fragrances for sale need not be concerned that they have used a blend they can’t replicate.
On the other hand, if you prefer to develop your own raspberry accord you could use Jean Claude Elena’s notes as a starting point (his spare, minimalist accords feature in his book Diary of a Nose):
He suggests that a combination of raspberry ketone with beta-Ionone and fructone can produce an effective illusion of the smell of raspberries. He says “Unlike cherries, which have more taste than smell, raspberries are all about smell … Adding cis-3-hexenol gives a sour, green quality, while geraniol will give a taste of lipstick.”
