Description and usage notes:
A sweet, hawthorn-floral material with anisic, powdery and balsamic aspects, somewhat reminiscent of acacia. It shares some odour characteristics with anisaldehyde but is longer lasting. It can an contribute usefully to replacing both Heliotropine and Coumarin. It is incorporated into our Cyclamen Blend Educational Kit.
Arctander describes it as “Sweet, but somewhat harsh, haylike odor with floral-animal notes. Suggestive of Hawthorne, Mimosa, Heliotrope, etc. Relatively stable in soap and under similar, mild-alkaline conditions. Used in woody-floral fragrances such as Cassie, Mimosa, Fougere, Chypre, New-Mown Hay, in herbaceous citrus types, etc.” In another work, he also recommends it for blending with Flouve Oil.
This material is solid at room temperature, with a melting point of about 38 Centigrade so we’re offering it here at 50% in TEC so that it is easy to use, while being as near to full strength as practicable. However if you prefer the undiluted material we are now able to offer that as rather lumpy crystals through this product.
