Description and usage notes:
Unusual top-note musk with a fruity element in the dry-down, very substantive. Description from IFF: “A powdery, creamy, warm, relaxed sensuous white musk. With fresh fruity nuances and soft comforting textures.”
Arcadi Boix Camps says it is a “great chemical … one of the most versatile floral-fruity chemicals, building impressive accords with products like Undecavertol, Coranol, Lilial … imparts unique effects impossible to replace if missing.”
The IFF compendium adds quite a bit more detail:
In the Jacksonville Research facility linear musks were synthesized in order to verify the odor value of a series of analogues. One of them became Applelide. Its odor character was described as a sensuous white musk with fruity nuances that was not known in the art. Applelide has seen steady growth since its market introduction in 2010.
USEFUL IN CREATING
Sheer musk qualities on top of your creation along with a softened note of fruity green apples. Applelide can help to provide a transition of musk throughout your fragrance contributing a soft powdery musk note to both feminine and masculine fragrances.
WHY WE LOVE IT
“The fruity side of Applelide is very useful in fruity and floral accords where a musky background is desired.”
“Applelide provides a soft sheer presence of musk on top while not hindering citrus and floral top note combinations and it provides an unseen linearity in musk.” “
