Description and usage notes:
Presented here undiluted, we also offer damascenone at 10% in TEC for affordability and ease of use.
Rose, apple, raspberry and extremely natural smelling; this rose ketone is one of the best radiants and effective in traces to .2% of the concentrate.
Present in Rose (from which it was first identified), Clary Sage Oil, lavender and osmanthus as well as tobacco absolute and apple juice among many others, this material has many uses in both perfumery and flavour work.
According to Arcadi Boix Camps, writing in 1978, it’s effects are impressive even in minimal doses, he says it “is perhaps the most revolutionary of this family of products [the rose ketones]. Present in the essential oil of Bulgarian rose as a minor component, its effects are of the greatest importance in determining the final odor of the natural product.” He continues: “It imparts a freshness, naturalness, radiance, intensity, broadness, uniformity, and character to any perfume. We could almost say it imparts the very subjective feeling of a perfume, wherever it is used. I am completely convinced that beta-damascenone will be one of the greatest aromatic compounds of the 1980s, and its incorporation into the great perfumes is assured.”
His prediction was of course correct – it features for example in Poison by Dior – and the material continues to be important today.
Note that the IFRA restriction applies to all rose ketones combined.
