Description and usage notes:
Newly released and unusual top-note musk with a fruity element in the dry-down, excellent diffusion and very substantive. Description from IFF: “A powdery, creamy, warm, relaxed sensuous white musk. With fresh fruity nuances and soft comforting textures.” Until 2019 this was an IFF captive, unavailable to perfumers not employed by IFF.
At Pell Wall we’ve done some comparative trials and found this product gives a softer, richer and more diffusive effect in a complex blend than an equivalent amount of Applelide.
Arcadi Boix Camps says of this material: “Many times in my life I had the honor of smelling new molecules but very few of them I was moved like when smelling the new Edenolide.
Edenolide is strongly musky but also woody, spicy, ambery, floral, fruity and extremely complex. When using it, it enhances, exalts, beautifies, provides volume, dimension and substantivity as I have very few times seen when working with a new molecule.
I absolutely adore the blending of Edenolide with Firmenich’s molecules Helvetolide and Romandolide since together they create a storm of diffusion.”
IFF, through their Instagram account, have described it like this: “It’s uninhibitedly sensorial and sensual. Meet Edenolide! Edenolide is a renewable fragrance ingredient pioneered in-house at IFF. It was previously a captive ingredient, exclusively available to our perfumers. Consumers in the US, UK, France, Brazil and China who experienced it describe “evocative feelings of innocence and protectiveness” when used in fabric care. In body care, it offers a sense of “indulgence and unwinding.” In a fine fragrance format, one panelist said, “Edenolide makes me feel sensual and feminine.” For perfumers’ looking for an uncommon musk to take scent beyond the expected, this proprietary molecule smells powdery, a creamy, warm, relaxed sensuous white musk with fresh fruity nuances and soft comforting textures. ”
