Description and usage notes:
One of the more accessible fruity esters with a much softer, easier to like odour than most. Useful to give the tart, top-note to apple, especially green-apple accords.
Arctander says of it “Occasionally used in perfume compositions, mainly to support ethereal, winey, brandy-like, fresh-citrusy and other light, non-floral top-notes. It has also been used to introduce an ‘aged’ note to alcohol”.
Can react slowly over time with aldehydes present in the fragrance resulting in a loss of odour impact, this seems to be particularly an issue with Triplal.
