Description and usage notes:
An alternative to the Damascones that isn’t IFRA restricted – this material is more damascone-like than Givescone, the equivalent product from Givaudan, so less is needed, but it lacks the apple note of that material.
Description from Firmenich: “Rosy-fruity, Damascone, saffron note. The closest olfactive profile to naturally occurring Damascone, among all the Damascone esters.
FIRASCONE® is the closest cyclogeranate to the entire palette of rose ketones.
Structured to perfection with subtle notes of saffron, it provides an endless source of inspirations for rosy and fruity creations.
Due to its clean regulatory profile (cyclo-geraniate), FIRASCONE® can be used like traditional Damascones, without the dosage limitations.”
Properties:

Typical usage rates range from traces to 0.6% in fine fragrances, perhaps as high as 1% in candles. Substantivity is relatively low at about 3 hours on a strip, meaning this is a top to middle note material. In the opinion of this perfumer it is best used as a booster alongside traces of rose ketones.
