Description and usage notes:
Gelsone is an interesting material immediately reminiscent of Hedione in odour and can be used in similar ways. The wine-like note distinguishes it from Hedione and many people also find a herbacious quality to Gelsone that is absent from Hedione. Gelsone is particularly effective in candle scents.
Arctander, has this to say of it: “Oily-herbacious, somewhat winey odor with distinctly green-herbal notes, reminiscent of undertones in Jasmin complex. This ester has found some use in perfume compositions, mainly as an ingredient in Jas- min bases, occasionally in other floral bases where the green-winey-herbaceous and fresh ethereal note may be desirable.”
This is original IFF material, described by them as “Floral, jasmine, waxy. Lasting, strong, refreshing and decidedly jasmin-like with an intriguing wine bouquet.”
