Produced by Givaudan who descibe it: “Odor: Rosy, Leafy, Aldehydic, Fruity. Use: blends well in Lavender and fruity notes, where it imparts clean & natural character. It helps to round out floral bouquets.”
Arctander describes it as “Fresh-floral, light, but rather penetrating, sweet-rosy, slightly green, Magnolia-like odor of moderate tenacity.” He goes on to say that it was developed as an intermediate step in the synthesis of Nerolidol and is “a very reliable floralizer and sweetener in floral compositions” though at the time he is writing the cost had not yet come down to a level where it could be regularly used.
