Description and usage notes:
Very sophisticated musk, reminiscent of musk ambrette but with a slight fruity component. One of the few musks that has a top-note effect (others include Applelide, Edenolide and Zenolide).
Works well in combination with other musks, having a synergistic effect with several of them (including, Exaltone, Exaltolide and Habanolide for example), so that very small doses can be an effective boost to a musk complex.
Description from Firmenich: “A sophisticated, modern musky note with a fruity pear aspect. Olfactively, between Ambrettolide and Ethylene Brassylate. Use: This musk performs particularly well in liquid applications (alcohol solution, shampoo, body wash) and emulsions. It is one of the few ‘top note’ musks.”
According to Arcadi Boix Camps it is “absolutely unique” and “very diffusive”.

The versatility of Helvetolide never ceases to amaze me. It can be used in heavy oud accords through to effervescent citrus formulas.
It’s effects are noticeable at small % and I regularly dose Helvetolide as you would normally dose Galaxolide.
Combination of Helvetolide and musks such as Applelide, Romandolide, Zenolide create exquisite texture, warm and depth whilst helping to exalt other notes. The effects with citrus materials are excellent.
I always carry Helvetolide in my stock.
The use of Helvetolide can be detectable as low as 0.05% and if budgets permit, Helvetolide can be dosed higher than 50%.
One of the best non captive materials available.

Sexy top note musk. Not long lasting however.
