Description and usage notes:
Sweet, aromatic and fruity with a green tropical nuance. Also described as waxy and slightly pungent. This mild material can be used in large quantities to round out and smooth a fruity or fruity-floral accord. A fabulous blender, it is particularly excellent as a bed for those pungent fruity esters.
At Pell Wall, we find isoamyl benzoate very soft and smooth, vaguely reminiscent of the boozy scent of over-ripe fruit. It occurs naturally in Benzoin Siam gum, and has been found in the headspace of the ‘Queen of the Night’ cactus Selenicereus grandiflorus.
We think it is excellent for any fruit accord, but especially tropical fruits like mango, passionfruit, pineapple, guava, peach, lychee. And any florals with a fruity nuance – fruit blossoms, ylang, lily, jasmine, and tropical flowers.
Isoamyl benzoate has no IFRA restrictions and can be used freely in any amount, though typical usage is around 15%
