Description and usage notes:
Retained as a captive for some years, this is an extremely useful floral fixative that works excellently with almost all floral materials.
Description from Givaudan: “Odor: Floral, Geranium, Grapefruit, Fresh, with its geranium-rosy character, gives interesting combinations in floral, fougère or hesperidian accords. Powerful, relatively non-volatile and very stable in almost all media.”
Writing in 1999 Arcadi Boix Camps says it “is an extremely good chemical smelling of geranium, rose and other flowers. It is incredibly effective as a floralizer on powder detergent and soap fragrances and provides a harmony not easily acheived with other chemicals. It remains captive and is missing from most laboratories, but I believe it will come to be used more and more because of its outstanding and impressive properties”
As the melting point of this material is between 23 and 27 Celsius it can crystallise in the bottle – gentle warming will bring it back to liquid.
