Description and usage notes:
This is a highly unusal ingredient capable of giving unique effects. Although it’s not mentioned in any of the literature, the immediate impression for this perfumer is that this is a very clean, ambery ingredient with the floral, fruity and musky aspects all present but less prominent.
Description from IFF: “Odor: Unusual combination of rose with musky, pear, violetty modifications. Also discernible are fruity and geranium aspects. Superb for cosmetic applications”
Arcadi Boix Camps, writing in 2004, describes this material as “a very interesting chemical that smells of rose, floral violet and musk, coupled with a very nice powdery note. … Rosamusk (IFF) smells clean, and therefore is fantastic in powder detergents and other funtional fragrances. It blends very well with Roseacetat, in addition to … Exaltolide and Habanolide. … its accords with violet-smelling products are great.”
Despite the musk part of its name, this is a relatively short-lived material, lasting a few hours on a strip, so is best thought of as a heart to top note material.
