This product from IFF is based on a complex of different musks, all macrocyclic, combined and supplemented with other materials to make it more animalic and akin to natural deer musk – this is much more animalic than Shangralide – also from IFF but much more approachable and based on Galaxolide rather than macrocyclic musks.
The description from IFF is characteristically brief: “animal, musk.”
Please note that we have only a limited amount of the Tonquitone PCMF DEPR 1206 available and once that has been sold we will be supplying Tonquitone 0613 – the product description will be updated to reflect that once we’ve run out but be aware that you could be supplied the latter version if yours happens to be the order that goes over the limit of what we have. Smelling the two versions side by side it is possible to tell them apart: 1206 is slightly stronger, particularly in the opening, 0163 is slightly smoother. The differences are subtle however and it is unlikely that substitution in an existing formula of one for another would be detectable in the finished perfume.
This is a blend that you’ll want to use in small amounts to add an animalic undertone and subtle realism to your fragrances – traces to 1% of the concentrate perhaps. At levels above 2% you’ll start to get a much more pronounced animalic effect along the lines of a fragrance such as Kouros for example.
