Description and usage notes:
Firmenich’s Description: Trifernal can be used to give excellent natural effects in many floral perfumes based on lilac, hyacinth, violet or muguet; in combination with other green notes as well as in aromatic and cologne creations. Very effective at low levels.
That rare beast – a substantive fresh green note, lasting one week on a smelling strip. Trifernal is an indispensable ingredient to extend a green note into the base of a fragrance. It is extremely powerful with typical usage in fine fragrance being traces to 0.1%. It also performs well in candle fragrances. Very useful for green and herbal fragrances, but also citrus/cologne and fresh-floral compositions.
As of 2020, IFRA limits use down from 2.7% to 0.44% in the final fragrance. But due to its power, this is far higher than you’re ever likely to use.Â
