Description and usage notes:
Presented here at 50% in TEC for ease of use, we also offer the undiluted solid.
Soft balsamic / vanilla note and replacement / booster for Heliotropine. Veratraldehyde comes as waxy, white to cream coloured powder or flakes. Can form part of the replacement for heliotropine in any formula calling for it, but something like acetanisole will be needed as well. It is otherwise useful as a complexing agent alongside vanillin or ethyl vanillin and as a fixative for floral, gourmand and oriental styles of fragrance.
Arctander suggests that “A pure grade of Veratraldehyde is an excellent perfume material with more warmth and depth than Vanillin, and excellent effect in ‘Oriental’ type fragrances, woody-musky bases, etc. It is also an interesting variation of – or companion to – Anisaldehyde.”
